Cops in Texas believe this woman, Lorraine Maradiaga, 18, has been telling people she is coronavirus positive and is spreading it around.(Carrollton Texas Police Department)
Police are asking the public’s help in finding an 18-year-old woman who posted a series of videos on Snapchat over the weekend claiming to be “willfully spreading” coronavirus in Texas.
In one of the videos circulating on social media, the suspect is seen filming herself inside a store that she claims to be Walmart and issues a bizarre threat to the camera.
“I’m here at Walmart about to infest every motherf----r because if I’m going down all y’all motherf----rs going down,” she said.
Police on Sunday identified the suspect as Lorraine Maradiaga, of Carrollton, a city in the Dallas metro area, and said she will be charged with making a terroristic threat once she’s taken into custody.
In another video seen by local news station KXAS, the woman appears to be sitting in a car at a coronavirus drive-through testing site when a nurse tells her to go home and wait for the results. Maradiaga also filmed herself later that day repeatedly coughing into the camera.
“If you want to get the coronavirus and (expletive) die, call me,” she said in one of videos, according to the station.
The Carrollton Police Department said there’s no confirmation she’s actually infected with COVID-19 or is a threat to public health, but they are “taking her social media actions very seriously.”
Officers reportedly went to her home on Sunday, but she wasn’t there. Anyone who knows of her whereabouts is asked to immediately contact authorities.
Police across the country have investigated a series of despicable threats related to the growing pandemic in recent weeks.
A Missouri man was arrested last week after authorities said he coughed on customers at a Dollar Store and used his fingers to write the word “COVID” on a cooler door after breathing on it. In New Jersey, a man was charged with making a terroristic threat last month after coughing on a worker at a Wegmans supermarket, laughing at her and telling the woman he had coronavirus, according to police.
