If saving money is high on your list of New Year's resolutions there is a simple way to ensure you have a nice nest egg at the end of 2018, without it feeling too punishing.Apartment Therapy has unveiled a foolproof money-saving approach - the 365 Day Challenge, which could net you almost £1,500 over the course of the year by putting aside a small sum of money each day.Every Sunday, you put aside £1, on Monday it's £2 and so on until Saturday when you put away £7 before starting again at one the following week.Because it's a case of saving just a few pounds, the plan should not feel like too much of a burden day-to-day.The maximum you need to save - £7 on a Saturday - doesn't amount to much more than the average cost of two pints - or two takeaway coffees, depending on where you live.Apartment Therapy has unveiled a foolproof way of saving almost £1,500 a year by putting away just a few pounds every day
And by sticking with it, you'll save at least £1,456 over the course of a year, even if you don't put away another single penny of your earnings.You could physically put the money in a jar, or set up a standing order for the entire amount - £28 - to leave your account every week.
Money-saving bloggers often recommend the 52 Week Challenge as a foolproof way to save, which involves putting aside £1 on the first week of the year, £2 on the second and so on.But according to Apartment Therapy, the 365 Challenge is a much more user-friendly way of saving that people are likely to stick to.The 52 week challenge involves putting away bigger amounts of money as the year goes on.Coming up to December for instance, you'll need to save around £50 a week.And in the last week of the year, when most people are struggling after Christmas they will have to put away £52 to complete the challenge.By the end you'll have saved £1,378 whereas the 365 day challenge will net you £,1456 - an additional £78.
