The FDNY has enough masks and protective gear for all EMTs, paramedics and firefighters on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic, Mayor de Blasio claimed Tuesday.

Even as emergency medical service members say stations are running out of supplies, de Blasio said that FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro has gotten additional N95 masks and personal protective equipment whenever he asked for them.

“They’re getting them instantly,” de Blasio said at a briefing Tuesday. “It’s a priority to support our first responders.”

But the mayor admitted that the city is maintaining a “crisis standard” in terms of medical supplies.

“There’s an ideal standard we’d like to be at, we’re not there now because we’re in a crisis because of the shortages all over the country,” de Blasio said. “Fire department, EMS, have those N95 masks to meet that standard… anything more they need, they will get, period.”

De Blasio also said first responders are prioritized for COVID-19 tests.
