Jerry Bishop, the Los Angeles radio host famous for announcing “Judge Judy," has died at age 84.
Bishop died of heart disease Tuesday in Los Angeles, his family told The Hollywood Reporter.
Bishop, a Connecticut native, came up as morning drive radio host in L.A. during the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s. He has been part of “Judge Judy” since the first episode in 1996 and was with the show up until his final days.
Bishop also served as the voice Disney Channel promos for years and did voiceovers for commercials as well.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Bishop was married for 51 years before his wife Velma died in 2007. He is survived by three daughters and several grandchildren.
“Everybody loved him," the titular judge, Judy Sheindlin, told the Hollywood Reporter. "He had a golden heart and generous spirit. I adored him and will miss him.”
“Judge Judy” is set to end production following this season.
