Neighbors on Monday mourned the stabbing death of a quiet Brooklyn man in his home early Sunday, as police charged a roommate with whom the victim had past clashes.

Dmitrii Buvenov, 41, who worked as a medical assistant and took care of his two cats in his basement apartment in a house on Brighton 3rd St. in Brighton Beach, was fatally stabbed in his apartment — a slaying discovered by the building’s super, police said.

On Monday, Buvenov’s roommate, Pavel Orgaev, 56, was taken into custody and charged with murder and criminal contempt, police said. Orgaev violated an order of protection barring him from contacting the victim, cops said.

“They caught him in Coney Island. People saw him and they call the police," Rasul Khalimoyv, who lives on the second floor of the house, told the Daily News.

Another neighbor was horrified at Buvenov’s slaying.

“He was friends with my husband. He was very calm, kind, and quiet," the female neighbor said of Buvenov. “He would wave hello when we see each other."

“This shouldn’t have happened to him he didn’t do anything except be home with his two cats,” she said.

Other neighbors said Buvenov didn’t get along with Orgaev, and that the two clashed at least twice over the past week.

The men shared a kitchen and a bathroom, and often fought over chores and cleaning, the neighbors said.

"They always have (a) problem,” said Khalimoyv, who knew Buvenov by his nickname, Dima.

“Dima don’t drink, don’t really do nothing, and he’s a good guy. He don’t do nothing,” Khalimoyv said.

Khalimoyv described the roommate as someone who allegedly became enraged when he drank.

“(The roommate) always (has) problem with anything Dima do,” Khalimoyv said. “If Dima clean the basement outside (he) always yell about what he do.”
