The baby has been receiving medical care at the hospital since Tuesday and is in stable condition. Police are currently investigating the incident.
Officers received a report on Tuesday afternoon from the farmer, known by her surname Lu, after she found the child on the fruit field.
Police footage released by Nanguo Metropolis Daily showed an officer arriving at the scene before rushing the newborn to a local hospital in Ledong County, Hainan province of southern China.
The girl was reportedly covered in leaves when she was discovered. The video shows the farmer wrapping her with some clothing.

On Wednesday, a 29-year-old woman, who remains unidentified, came into the police station and claimed to be the infant's mother.
The resident said that she was visiting her friend on May 12 when she felt a sting in her belly, resembling early labour pains. She then rushed to the field and gave birth to her baby girl there.
The first-time mother said that she was scared and clueless because 'she never experienced something like this before', Sanya Television reported.
The terrified parent covered the infant with some leaves before dashing off.
The woman's friend eventually persuaded her to come to the police. Local authorities are still investigating the incident.
According to latest statistics, around 100,000 babies are abandoned in China every year - an equivalent to more than 270 a day.
Under the Chinese criminal law, any parents who desert their children can be imprisoned for up to five years.
However in reality few of them are given punishment due to a lack of law enforcement.
