Police rushed to this apartment on St. Nicholas Terrace at W. 127th St. on Wednesday, May 20, in response to a 911 call about a man firing at a woman in the building.

An off-duty MTA bus driver stalking his estranged wife barged in on her at a Harlem apartment Wednesday, fatally stabbing and shooting his sister-in-law, stabbing another man in the house and then barricading himself inside before cops opened fire and killed him, sources said.
The blood-thirsty husband, identified by sources as 44-year-old Ubaldo Gomez, had followed his wife to a building on St. Nicholas Terrace at W. 127th St. about 6:50 p.m., sources said. Inside were his 41-year-old wife, her 45-year-sister and a 39-year-old male friend who was making soup, sources said.

When the wife’s sister answered the door, the crazed husband — armed with a gun and a knife — opened fire on her, sources said.
The horrified wife got the gun away from her husband, but it only stoked his rage, sources said. He began stabbing her male friend, who lives in the apartment and is the super of the building, the sources said.
Ubaldo Gomez turned, knife in hand, and went for another thrust, and the sergeant shot him in the torso, authorities said.

The police, after racing to the apartment in answer to a 911 call about a man firing at a woman in the building, confronted the husband, who still had a blood-drenched 12-inch kitchen knife in his hand and refused to drop it, cops said.
A responding sergeant came up to the door and saw it open, and the woman’s lifeless, bleeding body on the floor, said NYPD Chief Fausto Pichardo.
“Possible barricaded suspect inside. I got a female down,” an officer said on emergency radio transmissions.
Within moments, an officer called out ,"Shots fired, central! Shots fired!”
The deranged hubby was still fighting the male friend when the sergeant identified himself as a police officer, Pichardo told reporters.

“(He) was given numerous verbal commands to show the officer his hands,” Pichardo said.
The wife was unhurt, authorities said. The extent of injuries to the male friend was not immediately known.

Gomez turned, knife in hand, and went for another thrust, and the sergeant shot him in the torso.
Sources said Gomez was an MTA bus operator.
The wife was unhurt, authorities said. The male friend remained in stable condition at St. Luke’s Hospital Wednesday night, sources said.
