The Israeli Air Force special operation unit, Shaldag, has been participating in the ground operation in the Gaza Strip and has been operating with the various IDF units against the Hamas terrorist organization prior to the operational pause.

Soldiers from the Shaldag Unit have conducted operational activity in the area of the Shifa Hospital, where they located weapons and terrorist infrastructure used by Hamas in the hospital, including weapons, ammunition, grenades, military equipment disguised in medical containers, and anti-tank explosives.

In the long and complex activity at the Shifa Hospital, the soldiers used advanced technologies in the underground tunnel routes and located a tunnel shaft. This tunnel shaft reveals the route of terror tunnels under the hospital.

The Shaldag Unit has been fully active since the beginning of the war, both inside Israel and the Gaza Strip.
