Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa used his address to the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday to sharply attack Israel, accusing the Jewish state of hundreds of airstrikes and more than a thousand incursions into Syria while insisting that the Golan Heights remain Syrian territory.
“The Golan will remain Syrian territory,” al-Sharaa declared, invoking UN Security Council Resolution 497 and calling on other countries to reject Israel’s sovereignty over the strategic plateau.
“The world is rejoicing about our return, but Israel is launching attacks against Syria,” he said.
Al-Sharaa claimed that Israel has carried out 500 airstrikes, more than 1,200 incursions and 300 detentions in Syria. The figures were presented by the Syrian president and were not independently substantiated in his address.
He also demanded that Israeli forces withdraw to the positions they held before December 8, 2024, the date the Assad regime collapsed and Israeli forces moved into the UN-monitored buffer zone separating the two countries.
“We are committed to the 1974 agreement,” al-Sharaa said. “We call for the withdrawal of Israeli forces to the lines of the 8th of December 2024.”
Israel has said its operations in Syria are intended to prevent hostile forces from establishing themselves near its border and to keep southern Syria demilitarized following the collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s regime. (Read More)

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa, the former Al-Qaeda jihadist who now wears a suit and tie demands that Israeli forces withdraw from the Golan Heights and withdraw to the positions they held before December 8th 2004, the date the Assad regime collapsed.
Israel will never withdraw from the Golan Heights for the simple reason that this area was used by Syrian forces to launch many military attacks against numerous Israeli towns and villages located in northern Israel between 1948 and 1967.
Do you find it interesting that after the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime, the Israeli army has been successful in destroying remnants of chemical weapons stockpiles found in Syria? Is it possible that Israel is concerned about a possible future attack against northern Israel with weapons of mass destruction?

Isaiah 17 foretells that the city of Damascus in Syria, which is the oldest continuously inhabited city in history, will be utterly destroyed as a city someday in a war with Israel. Acting in self-defense to a massive attack from inside Syria upon northern Israel (Isaiah 17:3–6), with most likely help from some Turkish forces and terrorist groups, Israel will be forced to destroy Damascus and desolate other major Syrian cities (Isaiah 17:1–2). Damascus will be reduced at that time to a ruinous heap of rubble (Isaiah 17:1–14).
