A traffic stop led to the arrest of three people who used their SUV to smash into a smoke shop in Long Island just to steal cigarettes and vape pens, cops said Wednesday.

Shortly after midnight Suffolk police pulled over a 2003 Chevy Tahoe on Deer Park Ave. for a busted headlight, authorities said.

When First Precinct Sergeant Robert Desanto approached the vehicle, police said he noticed glass on the back bumper of the SUV, as well as several cartons of cigarettes and boxes of vape pens inside the vehicle.

Three people were in the Tahoe. The driver was identified by police as 52-year-old Stanley Emerson. The passengers were Keith Pasha, 32, and Jacqueline DiPalma, 36.

As Desanto spoke with them, a report came over the radio about a break in at the Smoke Hub on Bay Shore Road in Deer Park. A vehicle was apparently used in the crime to smash through the store’s front window. The report noted cigarettes and vape pens were stolen.

The trio in the vehicle were later charged with the theft and face third-degree burglary charges, authorities aid.

They are scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
