A robber has ripped off $30,000 in cash, booze and electronics from 18 Manhattan bars and restaurants, a spree that is part of a huge spike in commercial burglaries during the coronavirus pandemic, police said Wednesday.
The industrious crook carried off all the heists between April 21 and Monday, at restaurants and bars stretching from the Lower East Side to Morningside Heights, and remains on the loose.
He gained access to each location by cutting through vinyl door entrances or busting through glass front doors.

The NYPD released surveillance images from two incidents Wednesday, including the start of the spree, when he pilfered $500 cash and two iPads from Marlow Bistro on Amsterdam Ave. near W. 110th St. on April 21.
Surveillance video from the sixth incident was recovered from NISI NYC, a restaurant on W. 47th St. near Eighth Ave., where he took six tablets and three bottles of liquor after forcing his way through a vinyl outer entrance on April 25.
Police say there were 564 commercial burglaries citywide in April compared to 210 last April — a 169% increase.
Crooks are capitalizing on the shutdown of the city’s economy, with most businesses shuttered, police say. Restaurants and bars can stay open for take out, but many of those that are in operation have limited hours and close much earlier than under normal circumstances.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
