A Connecticut man was arrested after spitting at police officers saying he had coronavirus, the Milford Police Departmen
A Connecticut man was arrested after spitting at police officers saying he had coronavirus, the Milford Police Department said.
According to the Hartford Courant, 27-year-old Stephen McCarthy, of Milford, Conn., got into a fight with his roommate on Thursday afternoon.
Officers were called to his apartment around 5 p.m. to investigate the breach of peace involving the two.
When they attempted to arrest him, McCarthy resisted and spat at the cops, claiming he had tested positive for the coronavirus.
He also threatened the officers and their families, according to a police report.
“Investigation led to the arrest of McCarthy who is accused of spitting towards officers and stating he had COVID-19. McCarthy is also accused of resisting attempts to be placed in handcuffs and threatening officers on scene and their families,” police in a press release.
He was charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, criminal attempt to assault a police officer, interfering with an officer and second-degree threatening.
McCarthy was held on $10,000 bond. He is expected to appear before a Milford Superior Court judge June 15.
